Wednesday Hodgepodge

Welcome to Wednesday Hodgepodge!  A big thanks to Joyce, From This Side of the Pond, for hosting.

1. It's a brand new month...share one thing you're looking forward to in October.

The Weather Channel has announced a colder than normal October - December for the Southeast, and I'm looking forward to great hair days and dog walking weather.

2.  Is chivalry dead?  Explain.

I sure hope not!  I've taught my daughter to look for a chivalrous gentleman when looking for her future life mate!  Chivalry is only dead if we don't teach our boys to be chivalrous.  I don't know who the idiot was that decided it was not necessary for men to hold open doors for women because a woman can open a door for herself.  So What?!  There's plenty of things I can do for myself, but I like to see my boys do it for me out of courtesy and caring.  As far as I can see, the feminist movement has done nothing productive for our girls and has turned our boys into uncivilized baboons.

3.  On October 2, 1950 the Peanuts comic strip made its debut.  Which character is your favorite?  Which character is most like you?  (Charlie Brown, Lucy, Linus, Shroeder, Snoopy, Woodstock, or Pig Pen)  If you need a description click here .

Linus, for sure!  I used to have a blankie with me while I sucked my thumb - till my mom decided it was time to end that nasty habit and put Tabasco sauce on my thumb.  :P  To this day Linus is my favorite Peanuts character.

4.  What's something you're competitive about?

Hmm, I'm not a competitive person really.  I don't like confrontation or competition.  I like doing what I like to do, and if someone else likes doing it too, cool!  Now we have something in common!

5. October is National Popcorn Popping Month...are you a fan?  How do you like your popcorn?

I like popcorn, but it doesn't like me back.  It messes with my digestive system.  Which is a bummer.

6.  When did you first realize the world is small?

I guess the world always seemed small to me, having been raised in New York which is a melting pot of people from all over.

7.  In terms of architecture, what's the most beautiful building you've seen up close and in person?

Again, born and raised in New York City which has some of the most beautiful architecture, yet I think the most lovely architecture I've seen in person is Vizcaya, the former home of James Deering and museum in South Miami.  Not only is the house, built during the Gilded Age, a gorgeous marvel of architecture, the grounds, a tropical garden on Biscayne Bay, are spectacular.

8.  Insert your own random thought here.

I just pulled a beautiful meatloaf out of the oven.  Why does meatloaf get such a bum rap?  We all love meatloaf, especially with Sweet Baby Ray's barbecue sauce on top.  'Cause everyone knows, barbecue sauce makes everything better ;)

We love meatloaf here too, but top ours with a mixture of brown sugar and ketchup. Definitely a fall/winter food in my mind. I don't crave it in the summer for some reason.

I don't give meatloaf a bum rap at all! I like it and Hubby always praises my meatloaf when I make it. We just had it a few days ago with mashed potatoes and mixed veggies; YUM!

I sucked my thumb and my mother wouldn't let me go to high school unless I quit. What a horrible summer that was!

I have always wanted to visit NYC :) And we LOVE meatloaf (but I agree it does get a bad wrap!) I actually made it last night :)
