Move it Monday

Boy, am I glad I've got stuff to do indoors, because there's not going to be a lot of outdoor activity for the next few days!  We had rain on Saturday, non-stop rain yesterday, and today is looking no clearer.  Poor Molly, she hasn't been out for her morning walk since Saturday because she hates the rain, and it just won't let up!  My biggest concern is for Wednesday, when I'll be driving up to Central Florida for my daughter's graduation.  It's supposed to rain that day too, and I hate driving in bad weather.  I'll be praying for the rain to let up on Wednesday so the drive can be as pleasant as possible!

Since I'm stuck indoors today, I've decided to make the best of it.  I cleaned both bathrooms this morning, and I folded one load of laundry.  I plan to do another small load of towels, then I'm going to start packing for our trip.  Dinner today will be Mexican-style chicken soup, a favorite of ours and perfect for dark and dreary days like today.  Saturday I did 3 scrapbook pages to help the day feel more cheerful; I may just do another one today.

I hope your day is looking bright and cheerful!  God bless, have a wonderful week.

Observing My Senses

For Today, April 28, 2012...

I am seeing...grey clouds, indicating more rain.  We got some last night, but it doesn't look like the clouds are done.

I am feeling...satisfied after a yummy breakfast.

I am hearing...cartoons coming from my bedroom.  My son is awake.

I am tasting...one egg over-easy, 2 slices of lower sodium bacon, a slice of cinnamon raisin bread, and coffee.

I am smelling...the remnants of my breakfast.

It just takes a moment to observe your surroundings.  Won't you join me?

Follow Friday Four Fill-In

It's the end of the work week, the school week, and it's time for my Friday Four Fill-Ins!  Hop on over to Hilary's at Feeling Beachie and test your skills.

1.       I never ___ when I ___
I never cry when I am in public.  I've always hated to have anyone see me cry.

2.       I used to __but I stopped
I used to go to the gym but I stopped.  I still exercise, mostly walking our dog Molly or taking walks in the park, but no weight training.

3.       My favorite picture of all time is of _______________
My favorite picture of all time is of my two oldest children at Disney's Hollywood Studios.  My daughter was 7, my son was 10, and they took their picture with 2 army toys from Toy Story.  The look on my daughter's face is classic.  She was absolutely beaming.

4.       When it gets dark I think about _______________
When it gets dark I think about how blessed I am to have a comfortable bed in a comfortable home.  Not everyone in this world can say that.

Five Question Friday

What a lovely Friday evening here in South Florida!  It's supposed to rain tonight, which would be so neat!  I love hearing the rain against the window at night; it's like God's lullaby.

Here are my five answers for this week's five questions.  If you want to give it a try, visit Mama M at My Little Life.

1. Do you make your kids finish all the food on their plates?
No, I avoided that because my mom used to make me sit at the table for hours till I cleaned my plate, and I hated it.  I tried to serve what I believed they would eat, and I've not had a problem.

2. Do you give an allowance?
Not a weekly allowance, but my youngest will get money for good grades and accomplishments in school.  I don't believe in giving a child an allowance just because.  Children need to learn to earn, or else they grow up expecting everything to be given to them as though they deserve it just for existing.  The world isn't kind that way.

3. Do you actually park your car in the garage?
NO!  And it annoys me to no end!  When we first moved in to this house I did park in the garage, then the hubby decided he wanted to convert the garage into a game room, and put a 9 foot pool table in there along with exercise equipment and a wall unit complete with TV, DVD player and music.  Well, the pool table got lots of use in the beginning, then it slowly became a trash collector.  The exercise equipment got used sporadically, and now isn't used at all.  My son will occasionally have his little friends over and they'll play pool, but it's not like he's in love with the thing.  I want my garage back!!

4. What is one food you will NEVER cook?
Okra.  'Cause it's nasty.

5. Do you have anything exciting planned for the summer?
Moving my 2 oldest children back to South Florida.  My daughter graduates from college next Thursday (yay!) and both kids want to come back down.  That's fine with me - I love having my babies nearby!

Psalm 118:24

Wednesdays Words of Wisdom

"Has it ever occurred to you that one hundred pianos all tuned to the same fork are automatically tuned to each other? They are of one accord by being tuned, not to each other, but to another standard to which each one must individually bow. So one hundred worshippers meeting together, each one looking away to Christ, are in heart nearer to each other than they could possibly be were they to become unity conscious and turn their eyes away from God to strive for closer fellowship. Social religion is perfected when private religion is purified. The body becomes stronger as its members become healthier. The whole church of God gains when the members that compose it begin to seek a better and a higher life."

The Simple Woman's Daybook

For Today, April 24, 2012...

Outside my window...is the loveliest blue sky, serving as a backdrop to green trees and tile roofs.

I am thinking...if the weather were like today every single day, I'd be very happy.

I am thankful...for beautiful days like today, and for not-so-beautiful days too.  Everyday is a blessing.

I am going...to have to take a Benadryl for my allergies.  It always happens when I'm working in the yard.  Like today - I cut the grass and now I'm all stuffed up.

I am wearing...a black t-shirt, jean bermuda shorts and white flip-flops.  It's 77 degrees out, sunny and breezy.

I am noticing...a few coconuts in one of our palm trees.  Too bad they're too high to reach.

In the kitchen...I made tilapia today, because it's fast and easy and I was tired after working all morning in the yard.

I am reading...Genesis with my son, A Love That Multiplies during my down-time, and In Search of Christian Freedom for my personal study.

I am hoping...my allergies won't get too out of hand.

I am wondering...if I take a nap now, will I be able to sleep tonight?

I am looking forward to...my daughter's graduation.  It's a little over a week away.

Around the house...I've been working more outside than inside thanks to the beautiful weather.  I did some major cleaning last week so the house is still looking good.

I am pondering these words..."He came to pay a debt He did not owe, because we owed a debt we could not pay." - author unknown.

One of my favorite things...is the feeling of accomplishment when I've finished a task or chore.

A few plans for the rest of the week...my son E has FCAT's tomorrow and Thursday.  We have Awana tomorrow night, and of course church on Sunday.

Wanna join in the fun?  Visit Peggy at the Simple Woman's Daybook.  God bless.
