Monday Quiz About Me

Happy Monday!  This great blog hop is hosted by Heather at Acting Balanced.  There are 4 questions to answer, then the option to add a fifth question to be answered on my blog.  Won't you give it a try?

1.  When was the last time you tried something new?
I'm actually gonna try something new today!  I bought a Jennie-O frozen boneless turkey breast with gravy that I'm gonna make in the oven for lunch.  I hope this thing is good!

2.  What’s a belief that you hold with which many people disagree?
I believe in the Biblical model for marriage between one man and one woman.  I know this isn't the popular view in today's world, but then again, Jesus wasn't popular in His time either.

3.  What kind of music do you enjoy listening to?
I usually listen to contemporary Christian music.  I'm also a fan of oldies, which for me would be songs of the 80s.

4.  What piece of advice would you give to a beginning blogger?
Don't try to be like other bloggers or copy what everyone else is doing.  The beauty of your blog is that it's yours, and there is no rule about what it has to look like or what you can post.  If all you want to do on your blog is share recipes, go for it.  You decide.

And my fifth question:

5.  What kind of adverse weather conditions do you have to deal with where you live?
South Florida is a wonderful and beautiful place to live.  I love my little town with the dairy farm behind us.  But we have to contend with hurricanes every now and then, and the tornadoes they can create.  Thankfully hurricanes can be monitored and we can prepare for them up to a point, but they can be quite destructive.  We are grateful Tropical Storm Isaac is gone, but as of yesterday 3 deaths in Florida were attributed to it.

I agree with you answer to #2 and #4. In Phoenix the excessive heat in summer is probably the most adverse thing that we have to deal with. We do have dust storms, and localized flash flooding but with common sense these can be more of a nuisance than anything else.

We get tornadoes here in IL. That's about the most severe that we see. I've been lucky to have come through the couple I've experienced with relatively little damage.

Our weather in Toronto has all 4 seasons. Winter is cold and snowy and since I am retired I like to be a snowbird and travel to Florida as well as Charleston S.C.
The joke in Canada is that we have 2 seasons - Winter and Construction.

I'm so glad you survived the effects of "Isaac" intact!

I totally agree with your view about marriage being between a man and a woman! Amen. I never thought I'd live to see the day when this would ever be questioned :(

I live in Idaho and sometimes we can seriously get all four seasons in one day. It may start out with light snow, a few hours later we'll get the sunshine, possibly followed by dark clouds and cold winds. The joke is: You don't like the weather? Just wait two hours. It'll change! Although this mostly happens when we're in between seasons and the weather just gets confused.

I hope you aren't affected by hurricane Issac. We get tornadoes here in Indiana. I never used to be afraid until one hit near us.

In SC we have similar weather as you, though I'm sure you get hotter than we do! Hurricanes are always a worry, we get tornado watches a lot even without the hurricanes... other than that it's just the average thunderstorm.
