1. Who was the last person you said 'I love you to?'
That would be my youngest son, after I said Good Night.
2. What was the last non-kid friendly movie you saw?
Gone With The Wind. It was on Turner Classic Movies the other night. It's about as kid unfriendly as I get.
3. When was the last time you got angry about something that you felt silly about later?
I usually feel silly about getting angry, especially if it's something my youngest son is doing just because he's a new teenager and is getting into the role. He can be annoying but it's not worth getting angry over.
4. Where is your favorite object at this moment?
My Nook. I want to read at least one book a month, and the Nook makes it easy (and affordable).
Now my question:
5. Do you think of President's Day as a true holiday or just a retailer's gimmick?
I'd like to think of President's Day as a day to show appreciation for the men who have led our country, but just as with so many other holidays, it's become nothing more than a day to get good deals at car dealerships and stores. Gone are the days when stores actually closed on holidays and gave their employees a break. :(

Sadly most Holidays or Observance days have become Retail Blitz Days. Heart breaking that days originally declared in honor, remembrance, to promote awareness among other reasons have been clutched in the claws by retailers sullying their true worth.
I agree with Sammie. Most holidays are to retail-oriented. I do think Presidents Day should be observed because it is one of our traditional American holidays.
Well it was a holiday before retail really grabbed it. I remember as a kid we studied various presidents in school associated with the day. Now, I think most kids don't really know anything about it and retailers will try anything to make a dollar.
As I am sitting here at my desk obviously pretending to work...I think it is a great holiday and wish we actually got to get it off.
I first heard of Presidents Day in the 80s, that's when it became a federal holiday rather than acknowledging Lincoln's birthday and Washington's ten days later. The original declaration of a presidents day was left to the states to decide if it would be a holiday.
I don't think I ever felt it had anything to do with honoring past Presidents. It was just a bank and government day off. I remember acknowledging Lincoln's birthday on the 12th and Washington's on the 22nd in school. I usually forget all about the federal holiday until there's no mail and the banks are closed. I've never had the day off from work and it was different when I was a kid in school.
Most holidays seem to have lost their meaning become too commercialized these days. Sad but true.
I believe that at one time it was a holiday. I think there is too much glitz & glam to it now.
I really wish that it was a an holiday where people actually honored the presidents but sadly its not.
I was watching GWTW on TCM also!!! I have the DVD and yet I was riveted to the TV till midnight while it was on. Can you believe E.D.'s never seen that movie?
For us in NYC, President's day marks the beginning of a week long winter recess so most folks don't pay much attention to what the day is actually about.
