Well, hubby went to a specialist who told him that while he has all the symptoms of mumps, he doesn't actually have the mumps. It's a very similar virus. Apparently the blood tests came back negative. Mumps is just one type of viral infection that can affect the salivary glands. My take on it: if it walks like a duck and quacks like a duck, it's a duck. A rose by any other name still feels like the mumps which is all my hubby cares about. Thankfully though, the meds have taken effect and the swelling is almost completely gone. He hasn't had anymore fever either. He's had trouble getting to sleep but then again he's always had that problem. I think in another couple of days he'll be back to his ole self.
I, on the other hand, had to go to the doctor on Wednesday because I'd been burning up with fever for 3 days and pretty much ignored how lousy I was feeling so that I could take care of my husband. Hubby finally told me I HAD to go to my doctor, who gave me antibiotics for a very bad sinus infection. Any time we get a dry spell my allergies act up, and sometimes it leads to sinusitis. We haven't had a good rainfall in several weeks so I'm not surprised I got sick. There's no rain in the horizon either: a couple of cold fronts have brought the weather down to the lower 50's in the morning and 70 in the afternoon which is so comfortable, but also dry. I'm not complaining, mind you - most of the country is covered in snow and suffering from ridiculously low temperatures and wind chill factors that could freeze the sun. I'm extremely thankful for our very pleasant temperatures. I just want a little sinus relief! Not to worry. I'm resting and taking care of myself, and with the Lord's help I'll be as good as new in no time. Thank God for weekends!

Hope you guys start feeling better soon. It bites that you're both sick at the same time; nobody to take care of you.
Oh, and you don't know anything about a cold front!! I'd give my right toe for your 50 degree cold front right about now! It's in the single digits here (wind chill is way below that): I was wearing my Tink sweater with the hood up, my long down coat, a hat that has a scarf attached, another scarf, and my ski boots and still felt cold! :)
Love ya!
ah, feel better soon. I'd send ya some chicken soup, but I doubt my fax machine would do it justice! HA!
re: I'm not sure what type of home it is....a rented one? LOL :o)
